Capsules

Climate Change

The first capsule took place in Greece, in Neo Risio school in Thessaloniky.

Within this capsula, students have researched on the problem of Climate Change: causes, possible solutions, so they could save the dark destiny of Netherlands. Pupils have performed questionnaires to their schoolmates and families to learn about how they recycle, if they reduce the use of plastics, and if they implement other measures to be more sustainable. Also, they researched on the measures taken by the Government to fight Climate Change and to promote environmental change.


Healthy Habits

The second capsule took place in Italy, in Instituto Comprensivo Ripi, in Ripi.

Within this capsule, all the school's pupils have researched on healthy/unhealthy foods, lifestyles and on the increasing number of obese people and its consequences. They analyzed how our diets and shopping habits could affect the environment, the lives of the animals and other people (farmers, peasants, shop assistants,...). They reflected on how they could be responsible shoppers and how their food choices could affect the environment and other people's lives and industries. They created a “One-week Healthy menu” with creative and appealing meals, creating recipes and using traditional dishes and reinventing them.


Refugees

The third capsule took place in Ireland, in Fossa National School in Killarney.

Within this capsule, students researched on current wars and the refugees. What’s the situation of the refugees in Europe? And in their own country? How can people help? Children learned about the situation of refugees, but have also connected with other children that faced difficult situations. Students created adverts, songs and other materials in order to make people aware of this problematic, creating an Awareness Campaign AGAINST war and FOR the peace and the rights of the refugees. 


Screen Addiction

The fourth capsule took place in Croatia, in Osnovna skola Zrnovnica.

Within this capsule, the challenge was analyzing the current use of screens (mobile phones, computers, tvs, social networks, online games, etc.) and making surveys to different people inside and outside the schools, by making graphs and writing their conclusions. They analyzed the problems of the use of screens and researched on healthy alternatives. Students also analyzed the Government measures to prevent addictions. Then, the 2 core groups were challenged to make a Video with a rap-song promoting healthy alternatives to the use of screens.


Gender Inequality

The fifth and last capsule took place in Poland, in Skola Podstawowa.

Within this capsule, students have researched and compared the situation of Men/Women in different countries in terms of social rights, job positions, salaries, etc. They have also debated about how schools and the education system can help addressing this problematic: they have analysed their own languages in this regard, if it’s an Inclusive language, stereotypes, how can we promote gender inclusion, etc. They have found examples of Social and Gender Inclusion in different fields: politics, education, entertainment world, science, business and companies. To clonclude, students have made a “TV commercial” promoting gender equity where all the school community has been involved.
